Ambitious Movers started in 2015, but Terrence Boyd had been carrying furniture up District stairwells long before that. He grew up in Northeast, around Brookland, and got his first moving job loading trucks straight out of school. Over a decade he worked every spot on the crew — loader, driver, lead, then crew chief running jobs from Petworth to Capitol Hill. He learned the city the only way that sticks: by hauling sofas down alley stairs in August heat and figuring out where a 26-foot truck can legally park on a Georgetown block.
What pushed him to start his own company was simple. The big-name movers in this town were slow to show up, vague on price, and quick to pad the bill at the end. Terrence knew the work could be done better by a crew that took it seriously. So he put his name on a company built around three things: show up early, work hard, and quote a flat written price you can hold us to. He called it Ambitious because that is the crew he wanted — driven movers for a city that never slows down.
How We Run a Move
Today Ambitious Movers operates about eight trucks and a roster of around fourteen uniformed, full-time movers — our own W-2 employees, not day labor and not subcontractors. We are the company that does the work. When you book us, the crew that wraps your things is on our payroll, in our trucks, wearing our shirts. Devin Marsh handles estimates and walks every job before quoting, so the flat price you sign reflects what is actually in your home. On move day you get an early start, a tight crew, and no surprise line items at the end.
Licensed, Insured, and Local
We hold US DOT and MC operating authority for our interstate runs and carry a District of Columbia Basic Business License for the local work, and we keep both current. Ambitious Movers is bonded and insured, with up to $1,000,000 of cargo coverage per shipment; released-value protection runs the standard $0.60 per pound, with full-value coverage available if you want it. We are cleared to work across DC, Maryland, and Virginia, and a written estimate comes before every move.
